This is an alpaca farm and animal sanctuary. Stay in the cottage and see what life is like on a working animal farm. Horses are welcome in our horse motel. The New River Trail State Park is 4 miles away and the horse trail entrance is 5 miles. Trails are walk-in or ride-in, but there are places for horse trailer parking.
There is also hiking and biking on the trails, nearby golf course, and boat launch. If you’re looking to get out, Historic Downtown Galax is only 8 miles away for restaurants, library, antiquing and other shops. The Galax Fiddlers Convention occurs the second week of August each year. You’ll be about 14 miles to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. With just a short drive, you can also visit quaint local towns like Hillsville and Independence.
About the Cottage Rental
The cottage is a cozy 1 room, 1 bath, queen size sleeper sofa with a thicker mattress and additional memory foam mattress topper for extra comfort. A camping cot is available for a 3rd person. There is a counter area with microwave and small refrigerator. We offer an assortment of instant coffee with non-dairy creamer and sweeteners, plus tea to choose from. We try to do our part to save the planet so the eating utensils are made from plants instead of petroleum, and our paper plates are microwave safe and compostable. Glass bowls and plates are also available. Please help us to conserve water and electricity by letting us know when you want towels and bedding changed.
About the Horse Motel
The Horse motel has overnight accommodations for 1-2 horses. Each 12×12 stall has a turnout area. Fencing is electric. Fresh water, pine shaving bedding, and daily stall cleaning is included in the price. No wash stall is available. There is cold water available to rinse horses. Required up to date health papers which includes proof of Coggins, flue/rhino, and release of liability will need to be signed. Parking available in our dry lot for truck and up to a 4-horse trailer.
